Antwaine Wiggins gets MVP of the Week award for Qatari D1- December 8, 2021
The 33-year old forward had a double-double of 60 points and eleven rebounds, while his team crushed, the league's bottom-ranked team Al Rayyan (#9, 0-5) with 20-point margin 111-91. Al Ahli is placed at 5th position in Qatari D1. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost two games earlier this season. Al Ahli will need more victories to improve their 3-2 record. In the team's last game Wiggins had a remarkable 86.2% from 2-point range. He turned to be Al Ahli's top player in his first season with the team. College of Charleston graduate has very impressive stats this year. Wiggins is in league's top in points (3rd best: 28.3ppg), rebounds (9th best: 10.2rpg) and averages solid 1.7bpg,2.8spg and 71.9% FGP. The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 29-year old DR Congolese guard Myck Kabongo (190-G-92) of Al Rayyan. Kabongo impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 42 points and 11 assists. Bad luck as Al Rayyan lost that game 91-111 to the higher-ranked Al Ahli (#5, 3-2). Al Rayyan are still at the very bottom. 5 lost games are too many considering they did not win any game. Kabongo is a newcomer at Al Rayyan and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 31.3ppg (#1). His other stats are also decent: 9.3rpg and 8.0apg. The third best performed player last round was American Willie Warren (193-PG-89, agency: Interperformances) of Al Shamal (#3). Warren showcased his all-around game by recording 22 points, ten rebounds and fifteen assists (!!!) in the last round. He was a key player of Al Shamal, leading his team to a 82-71 win against the lower-ranked Qatar Club (#8, 1-5). Al Shamal needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 4 victories and 2 lost games. Warren has a great season in Qatar. After only 7 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 24.1ppg (5th best) and assists with 10.1apg (2nd best). Other top performing players last week: 4. Jordan Washington (203-F-93) of Qatar Club - 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists 5. Khalid Suliman Abdi (198-G/F-87) of Al Ahli - 16 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists 6. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
