Al Gharafa Doha (D1) tabbed 31-year old American guard Franklin Session (187-79kg-89, college: CS Los Angeles). It is actually his comeback to Doha as he has played here before. Session played most recently at Jutai Technology in Taiwanese SBL league. In 25 games he was league's second best scorer with impressive 24.2ppg and recorded 11.0rpg (#4 in the league), 6.3apg (top 2), 2.1spg (leader !!!) and 1.3bpg last season. He can count that year as a very successful as was selected to Asia-basket.com All-Taiwanese SBL 2nd Team and League Player of the Week (3 times).
The previous (2019) summer Session played at Killers in U.S. semi-pro league Big3. He helped them to make it to the final after they ended regular season as second best team.
In 2011 Session was drafted by Los Angeles D-Fenders (D-League) in sixth round (16th overall).
The former California State University Los Angeles (NCAA Div.II) standout is in his tenth season in pro basketball.
Session is a very experienced player. He has played also professionally in Canada (The Storm), NBA G League (South Bay Lakers), ABA (LA Slam), IBL (Santa Monica J. and Agoura Hills E.) and The Basketball Tournament (CitiTeam Blazers).
Among many awards Session won Southern California Summer Pro League championship title in 2012. He received also All-Drew League Defensive Player of the Year - award in 2019.
Let's have closer look into Session's outlook: Tremendous athlete who gets to, and above, the rim quickly. Franklin is an explosive player who can score from anywhere on the court, on the perimeter or driving the ball to the basket. He is especially dangerous in transition and in the open court. Franklin is an amazing athlete who rebounds the ball like a bigger player. Uses his quickness and length to plays passing lanes well and will block shots, both on ball and defending the basket.
