FRANKLIN SESSION

American Franklin Session (187-G-89) had an amazing evening in the last round for Al Gharafa and that's him to receive a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 16.
The 29-year old guard recorded a triple-double of 32 points adding also seventeen rebounds and ten assists, while his team edged out Al Rayyan (#9, 2-13) 98-94. Al Gharafa maintains the 6th position in Qatari D1. Al Gharafa is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 7-8 record. In the team's last game Session had a remarkable 53.3% from 2-point range. He turned to be Al Gharafa's top player in his first season with the team. Cal State - Los Angeles graduate has very impressive stats this year. Session is in league's top in points (3rd best: 23.5ppg), rebounds (3rd best: 10.9rpg) and averages solid 2.4spg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 24-year old American point guard Ameer Jackson (193-PG-94) of Al Khor. Jackson impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 39 points and 15 rebounds. Of course Al Khor cruised to a 96-86 relatively comfortable win over slightly higher-ranked Al Ahli (#7, 4-11). This victory allowed Al Khor to leave bottom place moving a little bit up to 8th position in the standings. 13 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories Al Khor managed to get this year. Jackson is a newcomer at Al Khor and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 25.1ppg (#2). His other stats are also decent: 10.5rpg and 6.0apg.

The third best performed player last round was American Dominic James (180-PG-86) of Al Sadd (#3). James scored 25 points and passed seven assists. Despite James' great performance Al Sadd lost 68-79 to #2 ranked Qatar Club. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Al Sadd needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 11 victories and 4 lost games. James has a great season in Qatar. After 14 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.5ppg (9th best) and assists with 6.2apg (4th best). He also has 2.3spg and FGP: 56.0%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Akeem Wright (200-F/G-84) of Al Rayyan - 31 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists
5. Jeff Newberry (188-G-92) of Qatar Club - 29 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Nick Stover (198-F-93) of Al Gharafa - 30 points and 11 rebounds
7. Da'Quan Cook (205-F-87) of Al Khor - 24 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists
