FRANKLIN SESSION

American Guard Franklin Session (187-G-89) put on an amazing game in the last round for Al Gharafa, receiving a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 12.
The 29-year old player was the main contributor (48 points, eight rebounds and six assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Al Khor (#8, 1-10) 99-84. Al Gharafa maintains the 6th position in Qatari D1. Al Gharafa is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 5-6 record. In the team's last game Session had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range. He turned to be Al Gharafa's top player in his first season with the team. Former Cal State - Los Angeles star has very solid stats this year. Session is in league's top in points (3rd best: 23.6ppg), rebounds (6th best: 10.2rpg), assists (5th best: 6.8apg) and averages impressive 2.3spg.

The second best player in last round's games was 28-year old Algerian Mohamed Harath (198-F-90) of league's leader Al Shamal. Harath had a very good evening with a double-double of 17 points and 15 rebounds. Of course Al Shamal cruised to a 73-65 relatively comfortable win over slightly lower-ranked Qatar Club (#3, 9-3). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Al Shamal consolidated its place in the very top position of the standings. His team lost just two games this season, while they won 10 matches. Harath is a newcomer at Al Shamal, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 27.3ppg (#1). His other stats are also decent: 18.1rpg and 4.0apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Lenny Daniel (203-PF-87) of Al Rayyan (#9). Daniel scored 27 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Despite Daniel's great performance Al Rayyan lost 71-82 to the higher-ranked Al Arabi (#4, 7-5). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Al Rayyan can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 1-11 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Too bad for Daniel he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Daniel has a very solid season. In 3 games in Qatar he scored 21.3ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Miroslav Todic (205-F/C-85) of Al Sadd - 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists
5. Dominic James (180-PG-86) of Al Sadd - 26 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists
6. Mikhail Berishvili (204-SF-87) of Al Shamal - 14 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists
7. William Byrd (201-G/F-85) of Al Arabi - 17 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Elhag Ali Saleh (191-G) of Al Arabi - 17 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Aaron Rountree III (203-F-93) of Qatar Club - 18 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists
10. Oumar Seck (208-C-88) of Al Arabi - 19 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists
