Algerian Forward Mohamed Harath (198-F-90) had an amazing evening in the last round for second-ranked Al Shamal, receiving a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 6.
The 28-year old player had a double-double of 30 points and 17 rebounds, while his team beat Al Ahli (#6, 2-4) 84-74. Al Shamal maintains the 2nd position in Qatari D1. They are still close to the very top. Al Shamal would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 5-1 record. In the team's last game Harath had a remarkable 55.6% from 2-point range. He turned to be Al Shamal's top player in his first season with the team. Mohamed Harath averages this season 27.6ppg and 19.8rpg.

The second best player in last round's games was 25-year old American Aaron Rountree III (203-F-93) of Qatar Club. Rountree III had a very good evening with a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds. It was enough for Qatar Club to edge Al Rayyan (#9, 0-7) 84-80. Qatar Club's 3rd position in the standings has not changed. His team's 5-2 record is not bad at all. Rountree III is a newcomer at Qatar Club, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American guard T.J. Bannister (180-PG-84, agency: Inception Sports) of Al Rayyan (#9). Bannister showcased his all-around game by recording 22 points, eight rebounds and five assists in the last round. Despite Bannister's great performance Al Rayyan lost 80-84 to the higher-ranked Qatar Club (#3, 5-2). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Al Rayyan can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 7 games. Too bad for Bannister he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Bannister has a very solid season. In 3 games in Qatar he scored 11.7ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Babacar Dieng (198-F-97) of Al Sadd - 20 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists
5. Geron Johnson (190-G-92) of Al Rayyan - 23 points and 7 rebounds
6. Nemanja Besovic (221-C-92) of Al Gharafa - 22 points and 9 rebounds
7. William Byrd (201-G/F-85) of Al Arabi - 15 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Franklin Session (187-G-89) of Al Gharafa - 18 points, 14 rebounds and 2 assists
