American Jeff Newberry (188-G-92) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Qatar Club and that's him to receive a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 3.
The 26-year old guard had a double-double of 29 points and seventeen rebounds, while his team beat Al Gharafa (#4, 2-1) 95-87. Qatar Club is placed at 7th position in Qatari D1. Qatar Club is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 1-2 record. In the team's last game Newberry had a remarkable 57.1% from 2-point range. He turned to be Qatar Club's top player in his first season with the team. Oklahoma State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Newberry is in league's top in points (3rd best: 25.5ppg), rebounds (5th best: 11.5rpg) and averages solid 2.5spg and 55.6% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 28-year old Algerian forward Mohamed Harath (198-F-90) of Al Shamal. Harath impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 33 points and 20 rebounds. Bad luck as Al Shamal lost that game 81-89 to Al Sadd (3-0). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Harath is a newcomer at Al Shamal and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 30.0ppg (#1). His other stats are also decent: 19.0rpg and 4.3apg.

The third best performed player last round was American Dominic James (180-PG-86) of top-ranked Al Sadd. James scored 29 points and grabbed five rebounds. He was a key player of Al Sadd, leading his team to a 89-81 win against #3 ranked Al Shamal in a game of the week. Al Sadd started extremely well this year. They recorded 3 victories without losing a single game. James turns to be one of the very best players in the league while he is also a leader of the top team having his eyes on the championship title. James has a great season in Qatar. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 24.3ppg (5th best) and assists with 5.7apg (8th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Joshua Caldwell (203-F/C-91) of Al Wakrah - 30 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Nick Stover (198-F-93) of Al Gharafa - 27 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists
6. Julius Coles (193-SG-89) of Al Ahli - 25 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists
7. Aaron Rountree III (203-F-93) of Qatar Club - 21 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists
8. Ameer Jackson (193-PG-94) of Al Khor - 19 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists
9. Dalan Ancrum (198-G/F-96) of Al Arabi - 23 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists
10. Geron Johnson (190-G-92) of Al Rayyan - 29 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
