The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The round ended with change at the leadership position, derby games and favorites losing the games. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The biggest surprise of round 3 in D1 took place in Doha where host Qatar Sports Club (1-2) beat Al Gharafa (2-1) 95-87 on Wednesday evening. Qatar Sports Club made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard Jeff Newberry (188-92, college: Oklahoma St.) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points, 17 rebounds and 9 assists. Forward Aaron Rountree-III (203-93, college: Iona) chipped in 21 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Nick Stover (198-93, college: S.Alabama) who recorded a double-double by scoring 27 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Al Gharafa will play next round against strong Al Shamal trying to make it back to the top of the standings. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena of Al Shamal. Qatar Sports Club will try to continue on its current victory against Al Ahli. It will be extra interesting game as Al Ahli is their local rival from Doha.
Al Arabi (2-1) recorded a loss in Doha. Hosts were defeated by Al Shamal (2-1) 88-74. It was a good game for Algerian forward Mohamed Harath (198-90) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists. Mikhail Berishvili contributed with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Senegalese center Oumar Seck (208-88) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds for Al Arabi. Al Shamal's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Gharafa.

It was a great evening for Dominic James who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Mohamed Harath with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 20 rebounds and 4 assists. Al Sadd's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Arabi.
The game in Al Khor was also worth to mention about. Al Ahli (1-2) played at the court of Al Khor (0-4). Al Ahli did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 89-71. It was an exceptional evening for Julius Coles who led the winners and scored 25 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Al Ahli's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Qatar Sports Club.
The game in Doha was also quite interesting. Al Wakrah (3-0) played at the court of Al Rayyan (0-3). Al Wakrah defeated Al Rayyan 89-74 on Wednesday. The best player for the winners was Joshua Caldwell who scored 30 points and 6 rebounds. Al Wakrah will face Qatar Sports Club (#7) in Doha in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Al Rayyan will play at home against Al Khor and hopes to get finally their first victory.

In the last game of round 3 winless Al Khor was defeated by Al Arabi in Doha 72-68.
The best stats of 3rd round was 19 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists by Ameer Jackson of Al Khor.



Al Khor - Al Ahli 71-89

The game in Al Khor was also worth to mention about. Al Ahli (1-2) played at the court of Al Khor (0-4). Al Ahli did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 89-71. Strangely Al Khor outrebounded Al Ahli 43-27 including 28 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for American Julius Coles (193-89, college: Canisius) who led the winners and scored 25 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Guamanian-American guard Earnest Ross (196-91, college: Missouri, agency: Haylett Sports) accounted for 25 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winning side. Four Al Ahli players scored in double figures. American forward Dominique Lacy (201-89, college: NC-Wilmington) came up with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and Aladji-Bobo Magassa added 15 points and 14 rebounds respectively for Al Khor in the defeat. Al Ahli's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Qatar Sports Club.

Al Arabi (2-1) recorded a loss in Doha. Hosts were defeated by Al Shamal (2-1) 88-74. Al Shamal outrebounded Al Arabi 44-30 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for Algerian forward Mohamed Harath (198-90) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists. Georgian Mikhail Berishvili (204-87) contributed with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Al Shamal players scored in double figures. Senegalese center Oumar Seck (208-88) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and Christian Casas added 12 points and 5 assists in the effort for Al Arabi. Al Shamal's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Gharafa.

The game in Doha was also quite interesting. Al Wakrah (3-0) played at the court of Al Rayyan (0-3). Al Wakrah defeated Al Rayyan 89-74 on Wednesday. Al Wakrah made 17-of-18 free shots (94.4 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American power forward Joshua Caldwell (203-91, college: William Penn, agency: SDJ Sports) who scored 30 points and 6 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Dee Oldham (193-94, college: Chattanooga, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Caldwell is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Al Wakrah players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Lebanese guard Geron Johnson (190-92, college: Memphis) who recorded 29 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and naturalized Senegalese forward Alioune-Badara Ndoye (199-86) added 16 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals respectively. His fellow American import swingman William Byrd (201-85, college: Ark.-Pine Bluff) chipped in 12 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Ameer Jackson (193-94, college: Winston Salem) who recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists and international guard Moustafa Lashin (187-97) added 15 points and 4 assists respectively. Al Wakrah - Al Arabi 71:75 Al Arabi clinch Cup title in Ar-Rayyan as they edged Al Wakrah 75-71. The latter opened the game stronger and took a 19-15 early lead. Al Arabi however replied with an 18-12 rally to take a narrow halftime advantage. Moreover they posted a decisive 24-16 surge in the third period to win the game. QIYDAR DAVIS Al Gharafa Doha (D1) inked 25-year old American guard Qiydar Davis (198-91kg-93, college: Indiana State, agency: SDJ Sports). He started the season at Al Karkh in Iraqi IBL league. The last season Davis played at Indiana State University in NCAA where in 28 games he recorded 10.3ppg, 4.5rpg, 1.0apg and 1.6spg. His team was regular season runner-up in C-USA in 2017.
