FRANKLIN SESSION

American Guard Franklin Session (187-G-89) put on an amazing game in the last round for top-ranked Al Gharafa, receiving a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 2.
The 29-year old player had a double-double of 33 points and 11 rebounds, while his team crushed, the league's bottom-ranked team Al Rayyan (#7, 0-2) with 18-point margin 79-61. It allowed Al Gharafa to take over top position in the Qatari D1. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Al Gharafa won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Session had a remarkable six three-pointers out of 12 attempts. He turned to be Al Gharafa's top player in his first season with the team. Former Cal State - Los Angeles star has very solid stats this year. Session is in league's top in points (5th best: 23.0ppg), rebounds (9th best: 10.5rpg), assists (4th best: 6.5apg) and averages impressive 43.8% from behind 3-point line.

The second best player in last round's games was 24-year old American Ameer Jackson (193-PG-94) of Al Khor. Jackson had a very good evening with a double-double of 29 points and 13 rebounds. Bad luck as Al Khor lost that game 81-91 to Al Wakrah (2-0). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Jackson is a newcomer at Al Khor, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 24.7ppg (#3). His other stats are also decent: 7.3rpg and 5.3apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Aaron Rountree III (203-F-93) of Qatar Club (#8). Rountree III showcased his all-around game by recording 23 points, thirteen rebounds (!!!) and seven assists in the last round. Despite Rountree III's great performance Qatar Club lost 72-91 to Al Sadd (#2, 2-0). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Qatar Club can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 2 games. Too bad for Rountree III he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Rountree III has a very solid season. In 2 games in Qatar he scored 15.5ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Joshua Caldwell (203-F/C-91) of Al Wakrah - 38 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists
5. Oumar Seck (208-C-88) of Al Arabi - 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists
6. Andreja Milutinovic (199-G/F-90) of Al Sadd - 24 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists
7. Dominic James (180-PG-86) of Al Sadd - 24 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists
8. Miroslav Todic (205-F/C-85) of Al Sadd - 19 points, 19 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Kenny Hall (206-F/C-90) of Al Ahli - 21 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists
10. Dee Oldham (193-G-94) of Al Wakrah - 24 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists
