28-year old forward Mohamed Harath (198-F-90) had an amazing evening in the last round for Al Shamal and receives a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 1.
He had a double-double of 27 points and 19 rebounds, while his team beat Qatar Club (#9, 0-2), the league's bottom-ranked team 81-75. Al Shamal is placed at 5th position in Qatari league. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Al Shamal won just one (their first) game. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Harath had a remarkable 53.8% from 2-point range. He turned to be Al Shamal's top player in his first season with the team. Harath has impressive league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 27.0ppg and leads league in rebounds with 19.0rpg. Harath is in league's top in and averages solid 53.8% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Ameer Jackson (193-PG-94) of Al Khor. He is American guard in his first season at Al Khor. In the last game Jackson recorded impressive 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Bad luck as Al Khor lost that game 73-86 to Al Gharafa (2-0). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Jackson is a newcomer at Al Khor and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 26.5ppg (#2). His other stats are also decent: 9.5rpg and 5.5apg.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Dominic James (180-PG-86) of league's second-best Al Sadd. James showcased his all-around game by recording 20 points, six rebounds and five assists in the last round. He was a key player of Al Sadd, leading his team to a 91-54 easy win against Al Rayyan (#8, 0-2). Al Sadd has a very good start of the season. But there were just 2 games played, so it's too early to judge them at this stage. James also has a very good start of the season with very strong stats. James has a great season in Qatar. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 22.0ppg (8th best) and assists with 7.0apg (2nd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Kenny Hall (206-F/C-90) of Al Ahli - 23 points and 14 rebounds
5. Jeff Newberry (188-G-92) of Qatar Club - 22 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists
6. Nedim Muslic (197-F-99) of Al Gharafa - 27 points and 12 rebounds
7. Ali Saeed Erfan (198-PF-83) of Al Wakrah - 16 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Miroslav Todic (205-F/C-85) of Al Sadd - 14 points, 17 rebounds and 8 assists
9. Nick Stover (198-F-93) of Al Gharafa - 25 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Mohd Yousuf Mohmmed (204-C-82) of Qatar Club - 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
