Earnest Ross
Guamanian-American Guard Earnest Ross (196-G-91, agency: MKP Management) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Al Wakrah, receiving a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 13.
The 26-year old player had a double-double of 29 points and 16 rebounds, while his team crushed Al Shamal (#9, 1-11) with 16-point margin 100-84. Al Wakrah maintains the 3rd position in Qatari D1. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Al Wakrah will need more victories to improve their 9-3 record. In the team's last game Ross had a remarkable 80.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be Al Wakrah's top player in his first season with the team. Earnest Ross averages this season 21.5ppg and 8.7rpg.

The second best player in last round's games was 32-year old American forward Sammy Monroe (198-F-85) of league's leader Al Gharafa. Monroe had a very good evening with a double-double of 30 points and 14 rebounds. Of course Al Gharafa cruised to a 80-72 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Al Rayyan (#6, 5-7). Of course Al Gharafa still keep the league's top spot. His team belongs to top of the standings with 10-1 record and is considered one of the main candidates for the league title. Monroe is a newcomer at Al Gharafa, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.7ppg (#7). His other stats are also decent: 9.5rpg and 5.4apg. Former Newberry College star Monroe is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market.

Third on the list of top players last round was American swingman William Byrd (201-G/F-85) of league's second-best Al Arabi. Byrd scored 24 points and grabbed fifteen rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Al Arabi, leading his team to a 80-78 win against #4 ranked Qatar Club in a game of the week. Al Arabi is closer and closer to top of the standings. They will still need more victories. But 10-2 record is not that bad... Byrd has a great season in Qatar. After 12 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 11.0rpg (6th best). He also has 2.6bpg and FGP: 62.3%.

Other top performing players last week:
