PBA Round 13 (Regular Season): Ginebra Kings defeat Rain or Shine in the closest game of the week

The most exciting game of round 13 in the PBA took place in Manila. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of much higher ranked Painters (8-3) to seventh ranked Kings (6-4) 102-100 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Painters. Ginebra Kings made 28-of-37 free shots (75.7 percent) during the game. 33 personal fouls committed by Rain or Shine helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Guard Rhon Jhay Abarrientos (181-1999) stepped up and scored 25 points and 4 assists for the winners and chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Kings have a solid series of four victories in a row. Ginebra Kings moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Hotshots. Rain or Shine at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. They share it with TNT Tropang.
PBA top team - Beermen (9-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed twelfth ranked Terrafirma Dyip (1-10) in Manila 135-115. nailed 26 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and June Mar Fajardo accounted for 10 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists. Guard Maverick Ahanmisi (188-1991, college: Minnesota) came up with 20 points and 5 rebounds for Terrafirma Dyip in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Beermen have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. SM Beermen maintains first place with 9-2 record. Terrafirma Dyip lost ninth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. They share it with Blackwater.

It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Bolts. June Mar Fajardo fired a double-double by scoring 24 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his ten free throws !!!) for the winners. CJ Cansino produced 21 points (made all of his seven free throws) for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Beermen. SM Beermen maintains first place with 9-2 record. Loser Bolts keep the eighth position with five games lost.

In the last two games of round 13 NLEX RW lost to FiberXers on the opponent's court 95-107. TNT Tropang managed to outperform Blackwater in a home game 113-96.



SM Beermen - Terrafirma Dyip 135-115

PBA top team - Beermen (9-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed twelfth ranked Terrafirma Dyip (1-10) in Manila 135-115. SM Beermen dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Terrafirma Dyip's 50 and made 27-of-29 charity shots (93.1 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Terrafirma Dyip 50-32 including a 37-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. SM Beermen players were unselfish on offense dishing 33 assists. Jaymar Perez nailed 26 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and June Mar Fajardo accounted for 10 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists. Guard Maverick Ahanmisi (188-1991, college: Minnesota) came up with 20 points and 5 rebounds and Paolo Hernandez added 19 points and 5 assists respectively for Terrafirma Dyip in the defeat. Everything could happen in Makati at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked FiberXers and 6th ranked Warriors had identical 6-4 record. This time FiberXers used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Makati City 107-95 on Wednesday night. FiberXers looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Justine Baltazar fired a double-double by scoring 25 points, 24 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Naturalized Spanish guard Juan Gomez De Liano (184-1999) chipped in a triple-double by scoring 20 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals. Kevin Alas produced 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and added 16 points respectively for lost side. Four FiberXers and five NLEX RW players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. FiberXers maintains fourth place with 7-4 record. NLEX RW lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the seventh position with five games lost.

Very predictable result in Makati where third ranked TNT Tropang (8-3) defeated 11th ranked Bossing (1-10) 113-96 on Friday. TNT Tropang looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Calvin-John Oftana fired 25 points for the winners. Henry Galinato chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Troy Mallillin produced 20 points and Canadian forward Christian David (198-1998, college: Butler) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. TNT Tropang moved-up to second place, which they share with Rain or Shine. Blackwater lost their tenth game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with ten games lost. They share it with Terrafirma Dyip.

Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when SM Beermen made 8 blocks. June Mar Fajardo fired a double-double by scoring 24 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his ten free throws !!!) for the winners. Jaymar Perez chipped in 24 points and 4 assists.
