Gomez De Liano's double-double lands him Player of the Week award

26-year old ESP-PHIn guard Juan Gomez De Liano (184-G-1999) had a very impressive game in the last round for second-ranked Converge FiberXers and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 5.
He got a double-double of 19 points and 12 assists, while his team beat Phoenix (#10, 1-3) 128-114. FiberXers maintains the 2nd position in Filipino league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this season. FiberXers will need more victories to improve their 3-1 record. In the team's last game Gomez De Liano had a remarkable 57.1% from 2-point range. He turned to be FiberXers' top player in his first season with the team. Juan Gomez De Liano averages this season 16.3ppg, 8.3rpg and 10.3apg.

Second best performed player last round was June Mar Fajardo (210-C-1989) of San Miguel Beermen. He is a center in his 15th season at SM Beermen. In the last game Fajardo recorded an impressive double-double of 17 points and 16 rebounds. It was enough for Beermen to edge the lower-ranked Ginebra Kings (#9, 1-3) by 2 points 83-81. This victory allowed SM Beermen to move up to 6th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 2-2 record is not bad and everything may still change. Fajardo is one of the most experienced players at SM Beermen and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.8ppg (#8). His other stats are also decent: 16.8rpg and 4.3apg.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Calvin Abueva (190-F-1988) of Titan Ultra Giant Risers (#12). Abueva got into 30-points club by scoring 31 points in the last round. He went also for eighteen rebounds and four assists. Despite Abueva's great performance the Titan UGR lost 111-112 to the higher-ranked Rain or Shine (#5, 3-1). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Abueva has individually a great season in Philippines. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.3ppg (4th best). Calvin Abueva has also Filipino passport and can play in the league with a status of domestic player.
