Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game of round 5 in the PBA took place in Pasig City. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 12th ranked Titan UGR (1-4) to fifth ranked Painters (3-1) 112-111 on Sunday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Painters moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Titan UGR lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with four games lost. Rain or Shine is looking forward to face Terrafirma Dyip (#11) in Makati City in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Titan UGR will have a break next round.
Important game to mention about took place in Manila. Ninth ranked Beermen (2-2) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 8th ranked Kings (1-3) 83-81 on Sunday evening. stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 16 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks for the winners and John Calma chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. Center Japeth Aguilar (206-1987, college: WKU) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. SM Beermen moved-up to sixth place. Ginebra Kings at the other side dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. They share it with Terrafirma Dyip and Phoenix. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
The game between second ranked FiberXers (3-1) and 8th ranked Masters (1-3) in Makati on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. FiberXers beat guests from Quezon 128-114. Juan Gomez De Liano nailed a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 assists for the winning side. Ricci Rivero came up with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for Phoenix in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. FiberXers maintains second place with 3-1 record behind leader TNT Tropang, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Masters dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. They share it with Ginebra Kings and Terrafirma Dyip. FiberXers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Phoenix will play against Hotshots (#3) and hope to win that game.

In the last two games of round 5 Terrafirma Dyip was beaten by Hotshots on the road 104-93. NLEX RW won against Meralco Bolts on its own court 89-85.
The most impressive performance of 5th round was 17 points, 16 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks by June Mar Fajardo of SM Beermen.




Hotshots - Terrafirma Dyip 104-93

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Hotshots (3-1) beat 11th ranked Terrafirma Dyip (1-3) in Pasig City 104-93 on Saturday. Hotshots had a 33-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. nailed 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and accounted for 17 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Paolo Hernandez came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and swingman Aljon Mariano (190-1992) added 12 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Terrafirma Dyip in the defeat. Four Hotshots and five Terrafirma Dyip players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hotshots moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Terrafirma Dyip dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. They share it with Ginebra Kings and Phoenix. Hotshots will meet Phoenix (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Terrafirma Dyip will play against Rain or Shine and hope to win that game.

FiberXers - Phoenix 128-114

The game between second ranked FiberXers (3-1) and 8th ranked Masters (1-3) in Makati on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. FiberXers beat guests from Quezon 128-114. FiberXers made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 60.0 percentage. FiberXers looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. Naturalized Spanish guard Juan Gomez De Liano (184-1999) nailed a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 assists for the winning side and accounted for 17 points and 7 assists. Guard Ricci Rivero (185-1998) came up with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and naturalized American forward Jason Perkins (193-1992, college: VCSU) added 27 points respectively for Phoenix in the defeat. Five FiberXers and four Phoenix players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. FiberXers maintains second place with 3-1 record behind leader TNT Tropang, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Masters dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. NLEX RW - Meralco Bolts 89-85

Rather expected game when 6th ranked Bolts (2-3) lost to fourth ranked Warriors (3-1) in Makati City 85-89 on Sunday. NLEX RW made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Strangely Meralco Bolts outrebounded NLEX RW 54-34 including a 19-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Guard Robert Bolick (185-1995) nailed a double-double by scoring 11 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists for the winning side and accounted for 16 points and 7 rebounds. Four Warriors players scored in double figures. Naturalized Spanish guard Juan Gomez De Liano (184-1999) came up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and Clifford Hodge added 14 points and 17 rebounds respectively for Meralco Bolts in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. NLEX RW moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Bolts dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. NLEX RW will meet Blackwater (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Meralco Bolts will play against the league's leader TNT Tropang and hope to secure a win.
