Regile Ilagan gets MVP of the Week award for Filipino PBA

Regile Ilagan (180-G-1997) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's leader Blackwater Bossing and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
The 28-year old guard had a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds, while his team crushed Terrafirma Dyip (#6, 1-1) with 20-point margin 107-87. It allowed Bossing to jump to the first place in the Filipino PBA. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Blackwater won just one (their first) game. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. Ilagan has many years of experience at Bossing, through which he has constantly improved. Ilagan has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (6th best: 22.0ppg), rebounds (9th best: 10.0rpg) and averages solid 4.0spg,75.0% FGP and 66.7% from behind 3-point line.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American forward Calvin Abueva (190-F-1988) of Titan Ultra Giant Risers. Abueva impressed basketball fans with 41 points and 7 rebounds. It was enough for Titan UGR to edge Meralco Bolts (0-2) by 4 points 100-96. The season is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Abueva is a newcomer at Titan UGR and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 21.5ppg (#7).

The third best performed player last round was American Stephen Holt (193-SG-1991) of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings (#10). Holt showcased his all-around game by recording 16 points, 17 rebounds (!!!) and 4 assists in the last round. Despite Holt's great performance the Kings lost 73-80 to Hotshots (#3, 1-0). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The season just started for Holt as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team's leader.

5. Jerrick Ahanmisi (185-G-1997) of Terrafirma Dyip - 25 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Zavier Lucero (198-F-1999) of Hotshots - 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists
7. Rey Nambatac (179-G-1994) of TNT Tropang - 22 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists
8. JB Bahio (196-F) of NLEX RW - 12 points and 12 rebounds
9. Paolo Hernandez (191-G) of Terrafirma Dyip - 19 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Christian David (198-F-1998) of Blackwater - 24 points and 7 rebounds

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
