Ballungay number one in Philippines PBA for round 1 (by Hoops Agents)

Naturalized American Forward Kai Ballungay (201-F-2001) had an amazing evening in the last round for Phoenix Fuel Masters, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
The 23-year old player had a double-double of 30 points and 15 rebounds, while his team in a lost game to Terrafirma Dyip (#5, 1-1) 87-95. Masters maintains the 12th position in Filipino PBA. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked at the very bottom. They already lost 2 games and recorded no victories. In the team's last game Ballungay had a remarkable 76.5% from 2-point range. He turned to be Masters's top player in his first season with the team. Former California State University Stanislaus star has very solid stats this year. Ballungay is in league's top in points (4th best: 22.5ppg) and averages impressive 1.5bpg and 69.2% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was Louie Sangalang (193-F) of Terrafirma Dyip. Sangalang had a very good evening with 23 points and 7 rebounds. Bad luck as Terrafirma Dyip lost that game 80-118 to Meralco Bolts (2-0). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Sangalang is well-known at Terrafirma Dyip and is a proven leader in his second season with the team. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.0ppg (#5). He also registered 7.5 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was forward Justine Baltazar (208-PF-1997) of Converge FiberXers (#4). Baltazar showcased his all-around game by recording 9 points, 16 rebounds (!!!) and 6 assists in the last round. He was a key player of FiberXers, leading his team to a 92-83 win against Phoenix (#12, 0-2). FiberXers needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 1 victory and 1 lost game. Baltazar has a great season in Philippines. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 13.0rpg (2nd best) and assists with 4.0apg (9th best).
