Oftana's double-double lands him Player of the Week award

27-year old forward Calvin-John Oftana (195-F-1996) put on an amazing game in the last round for Talk N Text Tropang Giga and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 7.
He had a double-double of 37 points and 12 rebounds, while his team edged out NLEX RW (#2, 5-2) 104-101. TNT Tropang is placed at 5th position in Filipino league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. TNT Tropang will need more victories to improve their 4-3 record. In the team's last game Oftana had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range. It's his second year at TNT Tropang and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Oftana has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (4th best: 21.9ppg), rebounds (4th best: 9.4rpg) and averages solid 50.7% FGP and 40.5% from behind 3-point line.

Second best performed player last round was Christian Standhardinger (206-F-1989) of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings. He is naturalized German forward in his 3rd season at Ginebra Kings. In the last game Standhardinger recorded an impressive double-double of 25 points and 17 rebounds. Of course Ginebra Kings cruised to a 95-88 relatively comfortable win over slightly lower-ranked North Port (#4, 4-3). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Ginebra Kings consolidated its place in top 3 of the standings. His team's 5-3 record is not bad at all. Standhardinger is one of the most experienced players at Ginebra Kings and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Stephen Holt (193-SG-1991) of Terrafirma Dyip (#7). Holt showcased his all-around game by recording 20 points, 8 rebounds and 13 assists (!!!) in the last round. Despite Holt's great performance the Terrafirma Dyip lost 104-116 to slightly higher-ranked Rain or Shine (#6, 4-4). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Terrafirma Dyip ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 5 games, recording just four victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Holt could help Terrafirma Dyip to bring them higher in the standings. Holt has a great season in Philippines. After only 8 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.9ppg (9th best), rebounds with 8.5rpg (8th best) and assists with 6.4apg (2nd best). He also has 2.4spg and a FGP of 63.2%.
