PBA Round 16: NLEX RW lose to SM Beermen in the game between Top 4 teams- March 18, 2023

North Port - TNT Tropang 110-134 PBA top team - TNT Tropang (10-1) had no problems winning another game on Wednesday. This time they crushed ninth ranked North Port (3-7) in Pasig City 134-110. TNT Tropang dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to North Port's 48. They outrebounded North Port 61-48 including 22 on the offensive glass. TNT Tropang looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. American forward Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (201-1995, college: Arizona) fired a double-double by scoring 31 points and 11 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners. Roger Ray Pogoy (189-1992) chipped in 22 points and 7 rebounds. American guard Kevin Murphy (197-1990, college: Tenn Tech) produced a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds and guard Robert Bolick (185-1995) added 14 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Four TNT Tropang and five North Port players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. TNT Tropang have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 10-1 record. Loser North Port keeps the ninth place with seven games lost. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of NLEX RW. SM Beermen made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded NLEX RW 51-37 including a 41-30 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Cameron Clark (201-1991, college: Oklahoma, agency: Slash Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 45 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds and guard Jaymar Perez (188-1993) who added 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four SM Beermen players scored in double figures. SM Beermen's coach Jorge Gallent used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American forward Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser (201-1994, college: UC Riverside) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 15 rebounds and his fellow American import Wayne Selden (196-1994, college: Kansas, agency: Slash Sports) scored 32 points and 6 assists. SM Beermen looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. Guard Jaymar Perez (188-1993) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Naturalized Tongan center Moala Tautuaa (200-1989, college: Chadron St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Gian Mamuyac (180-1999) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Mark Borboran (198-1984) added 15 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for lost side. Five SM Beermen and four Rain or Shine players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. First ranked host TNT Tropang (10-1) defeated 3rd ranked Ginebra Kings (8-3) 114-105. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Ginebra Kings. TNT Tropang made 20-of-25 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Ginebra Kings turnovers. Strangely Ginebra Kings outrebounded TNT Tropang 49-36 including 35 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by American forward Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (201-1995, college: Arizona) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and naturalized American guard Michael Williams (188-1991, college: CS Fullerton) supported him with 25 points and 6 assists. Even a double-double of 27 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists by American forward Justin Brownlee (197-1988, college: St.John's) did not help to save the game for Ginebra Kings. Naturalized German forward Christian Standhardinger (206-1989, college: Hawaii) added 19 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists for lost side.
