Nicholson number one in Philippines PBA for round 12- November 5, 2022
The 33-year old player had a double-double of 50 points and 12 rebounds, while his team in a lost game to Meralco Bolts (#12, 2-5) 89-92. Despite this loss Bay Area D. managed to keep Filipino PBA leading position. They afford to lose this game, but they have to be very careful to avoid similar "accidents". Bay Area D. has a very solid 6-2 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. In the team's last game Nicholson had a remarkable 56.3% from 2-point range and got five three-pointers out of 10 attempts. He turned to be Bay Area D.'s top player in his first season with the team. Former St. Bonaventure University star has very solid stats this year. Nicholson is league's best scorer averaging so far 38.5ppg. Nicholson is in league's top in and averages impressive 59.3% FGP and 43.6% from behind 3-point line. The second best player in last round's games was young American Kaleb Wesson (208-C/F-1999) of Phoenix. Wesson had a very good evening with a double-double of 23 points and 17 rebounds. It was enough for Phoenix to edge the lower-ranked TNT Tropang (#9, 3-4) 91-88. This victory allowed Phoenix to move up to 4th position in the standings. His team's 5-3 record is not bad at all. Wesson is a newcomer at Phoenix, but is already one of team's top players. Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Steve Taylor Jr. (206-F-1993) of Rain or Shine (#6). Taylor Jr. scored 20 points and grabbed sixteen rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Rain or Shine, leading his team to a 76-75 win against the lower-ranked North Port (#10, 3-5). Rain or Shine needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 4 victories and 4 lost games. Taylor Jr. has a great season in Philippines. After only 7 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 16.3rpg (5th best). Other top performing players last week: 4. Quincy Miller-Scott (206-F-1992) of FiberXers - 22 points and 19 rebounds 5. Raymond Almazan (206-C-1989) of Meralco Bolts - 14 points and 16 rebounds 6. K.J. McDaniels (198-G/F-1993) of Meralco Bolts - 31 points and 8 rebounds 7. Cameron Krutwig (206-C-1998) of Blackwater Elite - 16 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists 8. Kobey Lam (190-G-2000) of Bay Area D. - 23 points and 9 rebounds 9. Prince Ibeh (208-C-1994) of North Port - 10 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists 10. Roger Ray Pogoy (189-SG-1992) of TNT Tropang - 22 points and 8 rebounds The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
