The streak continues for PSI Air Force as they slapped the first loss on the Taguig Lady Generals, 48-46, in continuing action at the 2022 Women's National League (WNBL) Saturday at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center. The Lady Air Defenders thus moved half a game closer to the Lady Generals which remained on top of the five-team field. Karen Columna scored on a drive entering the final two minutes to up Air Force's lead, 48-45. Cindy Resultay (167-F-1990) then fouled Snow Penaranda who could only split her free throws to close in, 46-48. Both teams never scored in the remaining 1:41 as the defense further tightened. Fria Bernardo missed what could have been the insurance basket and opened the door for Taguig but Ambie Almazan stole the ball from Monique del Carmen and dribbled away the remaining six seconds. Resultay came off the bench to notch a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds. Ana Buendia followed with 13 points. Penaranda paced Taguig with12 points and 14 rebounds as a reserve. April Siat and Janeth Sison followed her with only six points each. The Lady Air Defenders improved to 5-2 - five straight since dropping their first two games. Taguig saw their five-game run come to an end for a 5-1 card. |
