Andray Blatche (211-F/C-86) made instant impact in his return to Team Pilipinas, leading the team to a 84-46 thrashing of Qatar last February 21 in the sixth and final leg of the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers at the Al-Ghafara Sports Club Multi-Purpose Hall in Doha.

A 31-9 blast in the third quarter capped with a barrage of three-pointers, catapulted the team into victory and improved to a 6-5 win-loss record and needed a win against already eliminated Kazakhstan on February 24 to have a chance in qualifying.

Blatche, who was not left out of the lineup in the team's campaign during the fifth window, led all scorers with 17 points along with 15 rebounds, seven assists, two blocks and two steals in an all-around game.

Marcio Lassiter (190-G/F-87, college: CS Fullerton) added 14 points in a perfect 4-of-4 shooting from beyond the arc while Paul Lee (185-G-89) added 13 markers.

Erfan Ali Saeed (198-PF-83) paced Qatar with 10 points as the home team struggled to get the offense going due to the suffocating defense by Team Pilipinas.

The scores:

Philippines (84) - Blatche 17, Lassiter 14, Lee 13, Castro 11, Aguilar 10, Barroca 7, Erram 6, Rosario 4, Norwood 2, Fajardo 0, Ravena 0, Thompson 0.

Qatar (46) - Saeed 10, Elhadary 7, Fouda 6, Gueye 5, Khalid 5, Al-Rayes 3, Muslic 3, Abdelhaleem 2, Mujkic 2, Mohmeed 2, Avdic 1, Al-Darwish 0.

Quarterscores: 15-11; 31-21; 62-30; 84-46.
