Mighty Sports showed its readiness to compete this year as it manhandled American University in Dubai (AUD) an 87-58 drubbing to kickoff its campaign in the Dubai International Championship last February 1 at the Shabab-Al Ahli Club.

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings resident import Justin Brownlee (197-F-88, college: St.John's) led Mighty with 17 points, six rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block in 18 minutes off the bench.

Two-time National Basketball Association (NBA) champion Lamar Odom (208-F-79, college: Rhode Island) added just four markers, but the former Los Angeles Laker forward brought more to the table in an all-around game grabbing seven rebounds, two assists and one steal in 27 minutes.

Athletic forward Jeremiah Gray (193-G, college: Dominican, CA) finished with 15 markers while Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) veteran Randolph Morris (211-F/C-86, college: Kentucky) tallied 14 points, six rebounds and one block.

Jett Manuel (186-G-92) added 12 points for Mighty.

AUD scored the game's first basket but Mighty raced to a big 35-point lead midway in the third period enroute to the victory.

Mahmoud Trab (194-SF-94) led all scorers with 20 markers in a losing effort.

The scores:

Mighty Sports (87) - Brownlee 17, Gray 15, Morris 14, Manuel 12, Banal 8, Adams 7, Odom 4, Santillan 4, Gomez de Liano 4, Wongchuking 2, Brickman 0, Yeo 0.

AUD (58) - Trab 20, Mbengue 10, Faroug 8, Morgan 6, Johnson 5, Bin Khatam 3, Farah 2, Albreiki 2, Ferns 2, Mohammed 0, El Ali 0.

Quarterscores: 23-9; 47-20; 68-37; 87-58.
