Paul Lee
Paul Lee (185-G-89) sank a jumper with 1.3 seconds left to lift Magnolia to a 79-78 victory over Alaska in Game 5 of the 2018 PBA Governors' Cup finals at Araneta Coliseum on Friday. The Hotshots can close out the series on Wednesday. Alaska rallied from 17 points down to take a 78-77 lead with 11 seconds left in the game, courtesy of 2 free throws by Mike Harris (198-SF-83, college: Rice, agency: IPZ). Harris came up with a defensive gem in the ensuing play with a rejection of Romeo Travis (198-PF-84, college: Akron) driving strong to the basket. The loose ball ended up with Lee, though, who dribbled to the right-hand side baseline eluding two Alaska defenders for the open J. Harris tried to go for the game-winner, but his baseline pull-up fell short. Ian Paul Sangalang (201-F/C-91) scored 20 points for Magnolia, which registered the win despite an atrocious scoring night for Travis (10 points, 3-of-19 field goals) Lee, whose lone bucket of the second half was the game-winner, finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Travis contributed 17 rebounds and 6 assists. Mike Harris led Alaska with 28 points and 20 rebounds, as Chris Banchero struggled tallying just 3 points and missing all but 1 of his 9 shots from the floor. The Hotshots outrebounded the Aces 57-41 and outscored them in the paint 34-20.
