San Miguel Beermen clinch Comms Cup title - Aug 20, 2019
The San Miguel Beermen clinched the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner's Cup title by defeating TNT KaTropa, 102-90, in Game Six last August 16 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Chris McCullough (208-F-95, college: Syracuse) led the charge for the Beermen with a monster game finishing with 35 points and 13 rebounds.
The massive frontline of June Mar Fajardo (210-C-89) and Christian Standhardinger (206-F-89, college: Hawaii) proved to be big headaches for the KaTropa added 19 and 18 markers respectively.
By winning the last three games after being down 1-2 in a controversy-filled series, the Beermen became the lowest seeded team (#7) to win a crown and is now in course in completing a rare grand slam.
National Basketball Association (NBA) veteran and Best Import of the Conference awardee Terrence Jones (206-F-92, college: Kentucky) scored a game high 41 points for TNT.
Best Player of the Conference Jayson Castro (180-PG-86) added 16 markers before fouling out late in the final quarter.
