Wapda and HEC Blues qualified for the final of the National Women Basketball Championship after beating their respective rivals in one-sided semi-finals here at Naval Gymnasium in Islamabad on Sunday.
Wapda routed Islamabad 52-14 while hosts HEC Blues crushed Punjab 54-8 in the other pre-finals.
Earlier in the remaining three pool matches, Punjab beat Islamabad 26-23 while HEC Reds defeated Balochistan 34-4. Wapda booked their semi-finals berth with a convincing 64-20 victory.
The final will be played on Monday at 5:30 pm while Islamabad and Punjab will meet in a third-fourth place playoff at 3:30 pm.
Prof. Attaur Rehman, Chairman Higher Education Commission, will be the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony.
Meanwhile, a selection committee -- comprising Mohammad Naeem (Punjab, chairman), Imran Afzal (Wapda), Imran Bashir (Islamabad) and Mohammad Imtiaz Hasan (Police) -- was formed to select a 20 probables after the conclusion of the National Championship.
The probables would undergo a training camp at the Pakistan Sports Complex on the direction of Brig. Arif Mehmud Siddiqui, Director General of the Pakistan Sports Board.
