Japan cruise past DPR Korea into Asian Games semis

Japan made it into the semifinal stage at Asian Games in China. They dealt with DPR Korea in the quarterfinal tonight. Takumi Ishizaki (188-G-84) and Hiroyuki Kinoshita (178-G-80) led well-balanced effort from Thomas Wisman team. Japan went on a 12:6 run late in the opening frame to take a 24:16 lead. They stretched the margin to double digits quickly in the second quarter. Japan arrived at halftime leading by as many as 20 points 50:30. Things got even worse for DPR Korea in the second half. Japan maintained the pressure and ensured a comfortable 21-point cushion before the fourth quarter. DPR Korea got within 20-point range in the fourth period but never seriously threaten the deficit. Tomoo Amino (196-F-80) finished with 11 points for Japan. Kosuke Takeuchi (205-C/F-85) chipped in 10 points and collected 9 rebounds for the winning side. Byol Sin Kum (191-F-87) responded with 22 points and 6 boards for DPR Korea. Jin Pak Myong (191-F-82) and Kwang Kye (180-G-84) delivered 12 points each in the loss. Japan will now take on South Korea in the semifinal tomorrow.
