7th edition of the Nepal National U-18 Basketball Championship has started at Kathmandu, Nepal with 28 teams; 15 mens and 13 womens participating for the prestigious National U-18 title. The championship will be played in league-cum-knockout format and will run through June 23, 2014.
Nepal Basketball Association will select the best players from the championship to participate in the South Asian Basketball Association (SABA) U-18 qualifiers for the Asian Basketball Federation (FIBA ASIA) U-18 Basketball Championship.
On the opening day of the Championship British College stunned defending champion Morgan International College 61 55 with 19 points from Rabi Chalise and Golden Gate defeated Gyan Niketan 56 29 while Greenfield saw off NASA 54 43. In the women category Saipal defeated Morgan 46 36 with Sweta Kharel scoring game-high 10 points for Saipal.
Morgan is the defending champions in the mens category while Prime is the defending champions in the womens category. The British College Kathmandu is the title sponsor of the 7th edition of the Nepal U-18 National Basketball Championship.
