Malaysia registered their first win at the SEA Games 2011. They overcame Myanmar to improve at 1-1 record. Beng Fong Goh (165-G-82) scored 19 points to pace the defending champions.
Myanmar who sensationally upset Indonesia in the opening round looked good in the first frame. They limited Malaysia to just 11 points to take a 4-point lead after ten minutes. Malaysia stopped the rot in the second quarter. They cut the deficit to just 3 points at halftime 31:34. Malaysia pulled through in the third term. They stiffened defensively limiting Myanmar to just 6 points in the quarter. Malaysia grabbed the initiative heading into the fourth period up by 8 points. Malaysia erupted for 26 points in the final stanza and ran away with the victory at the end. Kalaimathi Rajintiran (185-C-90) scored 16 points, while Shook Ying Hee (181-C-85) added 10 points for the winners. Ms. Susie answered with 22 points for Myanmar. Than Than had 13 points in the loss.
