In 2016, he was drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers (NBA) in the first round (25th overall). He graduated from the University of North Carolina, and it is his tenth season in pro basketball. Johnson is a very experienced player. He has traveled quite extensively during his pro career, playing in nine different countries on five different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America, Australia, and North America). Johnson has played professionally in France (Chorale de Roanne), Italy (Orlandina), Japan (Grouses), New Zealand (Giants), Puerto Rico (Indios), Ukraine (Budivelnyk), NBA (LA Clippers and Memphis Grizzlies), NBA G League (SLC Stars, Grand Rapids Gold, Memphis Hustle, and San Diego Clippers), and Oman (Al Seeb). In 2021, his team won the Ukrainian Cup. In 2023, he was voted to the Asia-Basket.com All-Arab Club Championship Honorable Mention.
