Dongguan New Century claimed the first win in their Women’s Basketball League Asia campaign. They rallied past Ulaanbaatar Amazons in Group A action. Collier Aliyah (183-G-1997, college: Clemson) came up with 22 points and 7 rebounds to pace the Chinese side. Mingling Chen (192-F/C-2000) added 18 points and 11 caroms for the winners.
Amazons posted a 28-25 lead ten minutes into the game. Dongguan sank 28 points in the second term to gain a 53-44 halftime advantage. New Century maintained the lead throughout the third period. Dongguan entered the fourth quarter up by 16-point lead at the final intermission. They kept Amazons at bay throughout the fourth stanza and raced to the win.
Kayleigh Truong (175-G-2001, college: Gonzaga) and Amari Robinson (183-F/C-2000, college: Clemson) notched 25 points apiece for Ulaanbaatar.
