MBL Round 18 (Regular Season): No surprise as #1 Xac Broncos defeat UB TLG

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

MBL top team - Broncos (18-2) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed tenth ranked UB TLG (5-15) in Ulaanbaatar 84-58. Xac Broncos held UB TLG to an opponent 22.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 46.7 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded UB TLG 58-39 including a 42-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Xac Broncos looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by UB TLG's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Xac Broncos made 8 blocks. International forward Ikhbayar Chuluunbaatar (194-2000) had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Binderiyaa Sandagdorj chipped in 11 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Avirmed Lhagva with 20 points and 7 rebounds. Broncos have an impressive five-game winning streak. Xac Broncos maintains first position with 18-2 record. UB TLG lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Bison.
The game in Uliastai was also worth to mention about. 5th ranked United (9-8) played at the court of seventh ranked Brothers (8-7). Brothers defeated United 99-85. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of United. American guard McKenzie Moore (198-1992, college: UTEP) notched a triple-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 17 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the effort and Munkhtur Baasandorj supported him with 20 points. Even 27 points by American forward Terran Petteway (198-1992, college: Nebraska, agency: MSG) did not help to save the game for Darkhan. Brothers moved-up to sixth place. Darkhan at the other side keeps the fifth position with eight games lost.
The game in was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Apes (10-7) played at the court of 6th ranked Knights (8-9). Apes managed to secure a 6-point victory 68-62 on Thursday. The best player for the winners was Tului Bataa who scored 18 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Pendarvis Williams who recorded 19 points and 5 rebounds. Apes moved-up to third place. Knights lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with nine games lost.

In the last two games of round 18 bottom-ranked UB TLG lost to Miners on the opponent's court 74-79. Selenge managed to outperform Bison in a home game 81-69.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 27 points and 5 rebounds by Jeantal Cylla of Selenge.



Miners - UB TLG 79-74

Rather expected game in Erdenet where 10th ranked UB TLG (5-15) was defeated by eighth ranked Miners (7-12) 79-74 on Thursday. Miners forced 27 UB TLG turnovers. The best player for the winners was American guard Shamorie Ponds (185-1998, college: St.John's) who scored 27 points and 6 rebounds. Nigerian-American power forward Maxie Esho (206-1991, college: UMass) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Kenny Wooten Jr (204-1998, college: Oregon) who recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and Bilguun Gan-Erdene added 15 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Miners maintains eighth position with 7-12 record. UB TLG lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Bison.

Brothers - Darkhan 99-85

Very predictable result in Sukhbaatar where second ranked Bodons (11-6) defeated 9th ranked Bizon (5-15) 81-69 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was Haitian forward Jeantal Cylla (201-1996, college: Arkansas) who scored 27 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Ahmad Gilbert (200-1996, college: St.Thomas, FL) chipped in 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Justin Moss (203-1993, college: Buffalo) who recorded 25 points and 9 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and his fellow American import center Kyree Walker (198-2000) added 13 points respectively. Selenge maintains second position with 11-6 record having ten points less than leader Xac Broncos. Bison lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 15 games lost. They share the position with UB TLG.
