MBL Round 8 (Regular Season): UB TLG is defeated by Xac Broncos in a derby game

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Ulaanbaatar: Broncos (#1) and UB TLG (#7). Despite it looked like an easy game for Broncos, those rules do not exist in derby games. It's more the case of honor for local supporters and such games have that special and unique approach you cannot find in other games. Host UB TLG challenged much higher ranked Broncos giving them a very tough game, but finally losing it by five points 92-87. Xac Broncos made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Xac Broncos outrebounded UB TLG 41-28 including a 26-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Xac Broncos looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Xac Broncos made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of international forward Altangerel Azbayar (202-2005) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and international forward Ikhbayar Chuluunbaatar (194-2000) who added 18 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. American forward Jahlil Tripp (196-1997, college: Pacific) responded with 16 points and 6 assists. Undefeated Broncos (12-0) have an impressive 11-game winning streak. Xac Broncos maintains first position with a perfect record of 12 victories in a row. UB TLG lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with seven games lost.
Very important is a home loss of second ranked Knights (5-3) against sixth ranked Metal (5-5) on Sunday night. Host Knights were defeated by Metal in 74-60. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Knights. The winners were led by American power forward Devon Scott (205-1994, college: Dayton) who scored that evening 23 points and 9 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and B Wesley supported him with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 21 points and 8 rebounds by American guard Pendarvis Williams (198-1991, college: Norfolk St.) did not help to save the game for Knights. Metal have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place. Knights at the other side keep the second position with three games lost.
Bottom-ranked Bizon managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the five-game losing streak on Saturday night. This time they edged fifth-ranked Apes 86-83. The best player for the winners was Justin Moss who scored 30 points and 8 rebounds. Ulzii Myagmarsuren produced 18 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Bison (4-9) moved-up to eighth place. Loser Apes dropped to the sixth position with four games lost.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 8: Metal won against Brothers on the opponent's court 88-74. Bottom-ranked Bison unfortunately lost to Miners in a home game 86-97. Bottom-ranked Bison lost to undefeated Xac Broncos on the road 65-74.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 20 points and 5 rebounds by Saturn T of Bison.



Knights - Metal 60-74

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Knights (5-3) against sixth ranked Metal (5-5) on Sunday night. Host Knights were defeated by Metal in 74-60. The game between closely ranked teams ended with 7th ranked Brothers' (3-4) home loss to sixth ranked Metal (5-5) 74-88 on Thursday. Metal dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Brothers' 28 and made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was international point guard Uuganbayar Tumenbayar (180-1998) who scored 17 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American power forward Devon Scott (205-1994, college: Dayton) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Five Metal players scored in double figures. The best player for the winners was M Moore who scored 21 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Nigerian-American power forward Maxie Esho (206-1991, college: UMass) chipped in 24 points. Five Miners players scored in double figures. American power forward Justin Moss (203-1993, college: Buffalo) produced 41 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import center Kyree Walker (198-2000) added 18 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts.
