6th Asian University Men's Basketball Championship: Draw Result - Sep 19, 2016

The official draws of the 6th Asian University Men's basketball Championship took place at the Central Sports Palace in Ulaanbaatar on 14 September. It was taken on online via Facebook page of 'Mongolian Student Sports Federation'. This championship was endorsed by Asian University Sports Federation, and was organized by Mongolian Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports, Mongolian Student Sports Federation as well as Mongolian National Basketball Association. For the upcoming Championship, 7 countries and regions, namely China, Hong Kong China, Kazakhstan, Korea, Macau China, Chinese Taipei and Mongolia will be divided into two groups. China and Chinese Taipei, as the Gold and Silver medalists of the 5th AUB, will head the Group A and Group B respectively. Before drawing the OC held a press conference and introduced the event to the local media. After that on line drawing was conducted by AUSF assessor Mr. Jargalsaikhan and MNBA Secretary General Mr. Tulga.
The Results of Draw are:
Group A: China, Hong Kong, Korea
Group B: Taiwan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Macau


Preliminary matches will be held at the National Basketball Palace of Khandgait village from September 19-21, and Semi-final and final matches will be organized in Buyant-Ukhaa sports palace from September 23 to 24.

Khovd overcame Sukhbaatar 102-91 in the decisive game to win the semifinal series 4-3. The team started strong and dominated the majority of the game. Dulguun Enkhbat (190-F/G-92) top-scored for the winners with 26 points and 17 rebounds, while Westley Hinton (203-F-91, college: Troy) netted 17. Arhangai advanced to the Finals of the National Play-offs. They overcame Uvurhangai 4-1 in the semifinal series when the closed the series with a 113-109 win. Sanchir Tungalag (190-G-89) top-scored for the winners with 34 points and Jeffrey Allen netted 24. Sukhbaatar and Uvurkhangai reduced the gap in the series as they won the third games. Sukhbaatar overcame Hovd Shonkhoruud 94-83 as Richard McCalop (203-PF, college: Oklahoma S&A) top-scored for the winners with 23 points.
