Jabari Bird's triple-double lands him Hoops Agents Player of the Week award

American Guard Jabari Bird (198-G-1994) had a very impressive game in the last round for Johor Southern Tigers, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 5.
The 30-year old player recorded a triple-double of 36 points adding also 10 rebounds and 10 assists, while his team beat NS Matrix (#1, 9-3) 104-95. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Johor Tigers maintains the 4th position in Malaysian MBL. Johor Tigers is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 6-6 record. In the team's last game Bird had a remarkable six three-pointers out of 7 attempts. He turned to be Johor Tigers' top player in his first season with the team. Jabari Bird averages this season 23.2ppg, 6.4rpg and 4.6apg.

The second best player in last round's games was another Johor Tigers' star - young American Stephen Hurt (211-F-1993). Hurt had a very good evening with a double-double of 26 points and 18 rebounds. Bad luck as Johor Southern Tigers lost that game 85-90 to slightly higher-ranked Sarawak CW (6-6). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Johor Tigers still maintains its place in the top 4 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team's 6-6 record is not bad at all. Hurt is a newcomer at Johor Tigers, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Alexander Starling (198-F-1989) of Sarawak Cola Warriors (#3). Starling scored 26 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. He was a key player of Fire Horse, leading his team to a 90-85 win against #4 ranked Johor Tigers. Sarawak CW needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 6 victories and 6 lost games. Starling has a very solid season. In 5 games in Malaysia he scored 12.2ppg.
