Chidom's double-double lands him Player of the Week award

American Forward Arinze Chidom (206-F) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's best team Johor Southern Tigers and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
He had a double-double of 37 points and 14 rebounds, while his team outclassed Penang SY (#3, 2-2) with 35-point margin 98-63. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Thanks to this victory Johor Tigers moved-up to the 1st position in Malaysian league. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Johor Tigers won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Chidom had a remarkable 64.7% from 2-point range. He turned to be Johor Tigers' top player in his first season with the team. University of California Riverside graduate has very impressive stats this year. Chidom is league's best scorer averaging so far 30.5ppg. Chidom is in league's top in rebounds (4th best: 13.0rpg) and averages solid 3.0bpg,4.5spg,58.6% FGP and 63.6% from behind 3-point line.

Second best performed player last round was Jordan Tolbert (200-F-1992) of Penang Sunrise Youngsters. He is American forward in his first season at Penang SY. In the last game Tolbert recorded impressive double-double of 29 points and 21 rebounds. Bad luck as Penang SY lost that game 76-91 to NS Matrix (2-0). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Tolbert is a newcomer at Penang SY and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.5ppg (#4). He also registered 15.8 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Tychique Bosango (189-G-2001) of Rising Star (#6). Bosango scored 27 points and grabbed fifteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Bosango's great performance Rising Star lost 75-85 to KL Aseel (#4, 1-2). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Rising Star can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 3 games. Too bad for Bosango he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Bosango has individually a great season in Malaysia. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 20.7ppg (5th best) and rebounds with 13.7rpg (3rd best).
