Goh number one in Malaysia MPL for round 6 (by Hoops Agents)- November 5, 2023Yan-Qing Goh had an amazing evening in the last round for Penang SY, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 6.
The player had a double-double of 28 points and 12 rebounds, while his team crushed Selangor XXIII (#4, 2-3) with 20-point margin 86-66. Penang SY maintains the 3rd position in their group in Malaysian MPL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost two games earlier this season. Penang SY will need more victories to improve their 3-2 record. It's Goh's second year at Penang SY and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Yan-Qing Goh has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (2nd best: 20.4ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 11.6rpg) and averages impressive 1.6bpg and 67.2% FGP. The second best player in last round's games was Michael Munnesvicky of Selection Team. Munnesvicky had a very good evening with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Of course he led Selection Team to another comfortable win 78-65 over PDRM (#6, 0-5) being unquestionably team leader. Selection Team's 5th position in Group B has not changed. 4 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Selection Team managed to get this year. Munnesvicky is a newcomer at Selection Team, but is already one of team's top players. Third on the list of top players last round was international guard Chun-Hong Ting (193-G-1996) of league's top team NS Matrix. Ting scored 28 points and grabbed eight rebounds. He was a key player of NS Matrix, leading his team to a 132-64 easy win against Sarawak FH II (#5, 0-4). NS Matrix started extremely well this year. They recorded 4 victories without losing a single game in Group A. Ting turns to be one of the very best players in the league while he is also a leader of the top team having his eyes on the championship title. Ting has a great season in Malaysia. After only 4 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 21.3ppg (best scorer) and rebounds with 8.3rpg (9th best). Other top performing players last week: 4. Yi-Hou Wong (195-F-1996) of NS Matrix - 15 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists 7. Zhi-Shin Chin (192-F-1987) of PDRM - 20 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists 8. Tian-Yuan Kuek (196-F-1991) of NS Matrix - 17 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists 9. Wee-Yiang De (185-SG-1999) of NS Matrix - 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists 10. Sharwin Siva (208-C-2002) of NS Matrix - 19 points and 7 rebounds The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues.
