Best players of Malaysian MWBL round 6 (by Hoops Agents)- November 5, 2023Poh-Yee Ooi had an amazing evening in the last round for Selangor and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 6.
The had the game-high 30 points adding eight rebounds and three assists for Selangor in her team's victory, helping them to outclass Putrajaya (#4, 2-3) with 43-point margin 88-45. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Selangor maintains the 3rd position in Malaysian MWBL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost two games earlier this season. Selangor will need more victories to improve their 3-2 record. In the team's last game Ooi had a remarkable eight three-pointers out of 13 attempts. She turned to be Selangor's top player in her first season with the team. Ooi has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (4th best: 17.0ppg), rebounds (7th best: 7.8rpg) and averages solid 55.6% FGP. The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young international forward Hui-Pin Pang (176-F-1990) of league's best team NS Matrix. Pang impressed basketball fans with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Of course she led NS Matrix to another comfortable win outscoring Perak (#6, 0-5) 97-34. Of course NS Matrix still keep the league's top spot. A very good start of the season for her team, which won so far all 5 games without any defeat. Pang is a newcomer at NS Matrix and despite she is not a team leader yet, every game she becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often. The third best performed player last round was another NS Matrix's star - international forward Fook-Yee Yap (174-F-1993). Yap scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds. She was another key player of NS Matrix, helping her team with a 61-52 win against #2 ranked Tiger in a game of the week. NS Matrix started extremely well this year. They recorded 5 victories without losing a single game. Yap turns to be one of the very best players in the league while she is also a leader of the top team having her eyes on the championship title. Yap has a great season in Malaysia. After only 4 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.3ppg (2nd best). Other top performing players last week: 4.
