MPL D-League Round 7: Sonic S. lose to MBC

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Sonic S. (4-1) at the home court on Thursday night. Hosts were defeated by MBC (5-1) 75-66. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Sonic S.. It was a key game for the top position in the league. MBC have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. Sonic S. at the other side dropped to the second place with one game lost. They share the position with NS Matrix. MBC will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sonic S. will play on the road against GoStrong B in Kuala Lumpur and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Putrajaya (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 61-56 loss to fifth ranked GoStrong (2-3) in Kuala Lumpur. GoStrong moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Putrajaya lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Pahang. GoStrong will play against Penang SY (#5) at home in the next round. Putrajaya will play against Sabah and hopes to get finally their first victory.
The game in Selangor was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked GoStrong B (3-1) played at the court of 5th ranked Selangor XXIII (2-3). GoStrong B defeated Selangor XXIII 72-60 on Wednesday. GoStrong B moved-up to third place, which they share with Perak Red E. Selangor XXIII lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. GoStrong B will meet at home league's second-placed Sonic S. in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Selangor XXIII will play against Pahang and hope to secure a win.

In the last game of round 7 GoStrong lost to undefeated Rising Star in a road game 52-110.
