MPL D-League Round 5: Penang Stallions lose to CLS Knights

The game between second ranked Penang Stallions (4-3) and fifth ranked CLS Knights (3-2) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Penang Stallions were defeated by CLS Knights in a tough game on the road 58-63. CLS Knights moved-up to fourth place. Penang Stallions at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. CLS Knights are looking forward to face Flyer Spirit (#8) in Johor Baharu in the next round. Penang Stallions will have a break next round.
An interesting game for NS Matrix (6-0) which hosted in 3rd placed GoStrong (3-3). Leader NS Matrix had an easy win 82-48. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of GoStrong. Undefeated NS Matrix have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 6-0 record. GoStrong at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. NS Matrix will play against CLS Knights (#4) in the next round. GoStrong will play against Roosters and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
MPL D-League top team - Selangor XXIII (7-2) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed eighth ranked Flyer Spirit (0-6) in Johor Baharu 110-49. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Selangor XXIII. They maintain first place with 7-2 record. Flyer Spirit lost their sixth game in a row. They still close the standings with six games lost. Selangor XXIII will meet at home league's second-placed KL Aseel in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Flyer Spirit will play against CLS Knights (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 5: Pegasus smashed Johor Tiger on the road 85-56. NS Matrix won against Roosters on its own court 79-61. KL Aseel outscored Roosters in Kuala Lumpur 104-45. MBC managed to beat Pegasus at home 91-80.
