Japan claimed the first win at the East Asian Championship in South Korea. They fired past Macau for 1-1 record in Group A. Yuta Watanabe (200-SF-94) delivered 22 points and 14 rebounds to lead the winners.
Japan led from start to finish in this one. They dominated every facet of the game. Japan built a 25:13 lead ten minutes into the game. They exploded with 28 points in the second period to gain a 53:27 halftime advantage. Japan did not loosen the grasp in the third term. They dropped 23 points to secure a 35-point buffer before the final stanza. Taiwan managed just 12 points in the fourth quarter as Japan cruised to the victory. Kosuke Kanamaru (193-F/G-89) netted 15 points, while Makoto Hiejima (190-G-90) added 14 points in the victory. Ka Tong Lai (191-C-95) responded with 15 points for Macau. Tong Fai Cheong (190-PG-93) had 14 points in the losing case.
