Al Gharafa (D1) added to their roster experienced 36-year old American (has also Angolan passport) guard Italee Lucas (172cm-1989, college: UNC) for new 2024-25 season. It is actually her comeback to Al Gharafa as she has played here before. Lucas moved there from Azour in Lebanese Division II where she played this season. In 14 games just recently she recorded 12.7ppg, 6.3rpg, 4.4apg and 1.3spg.
In 2011 she was drafted by Tulsa Shock (WNBA) in second round (21st overall).
The former University of North Carolina star is in her 14th (!!!) season in pro basketball. She has been regularly called to Angolan Senior National Team since 2017.
Lucas is quite experienced player. Her career allowed her to visit four different continents, while she played in nine different countries. She tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Asia, Africa and of course North America. Lucas has played previously professionally in Hungary (Miskolc), Iraq (Akkad and Ghaz Al-Shamal), Israel (Hertzliya), Kuwait (Qurain), Romania (Satu Mare), Spain (Hondarribia-Irun, IDK Euskotren and Girona), Rwanda (APR BBC Kigali), Angola (Inter-Clube) and Egypt (Al Ahly and Heliopolis). She won Angolan League championship title in 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2023 and the cup in 2013, 2014 and 2016.
It's very possible she may end her playing career at Al Gharafa.
