WLBL Round 13 (Regular Season): Top-ranked Al Riyadi wins another game

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

WLBL top team - Al Riyadi (13-0) had no problems winning another game on Monday. This time they crushed sixth ranked Champs (6-8) in Beirut 100-58. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Champs. Al Riyadi dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Champs' 28. They outrebounded Champs 42-20 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Al Riyadi looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Maygen Naassan (180-2006) who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American swingman Quionche Carter (183, college: FGCU) contributed with 18 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Al Riyadi's coach Hebatalla Hassanein felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American Tina Stephens (188-1999, college: Troy) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for Champs. Defending champion maintains first place with 13-0 record. Champs at the other side keep the sixth position with eight games lost.
Bottom-ranked Hoops is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 14th consecutive match to fourth ranked Club Beirut (8-5) 75-39. Zeina Elias stepped up with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Imani McGee-Stafford chipped in 14 points. At the losing side American forward Lyndsey Whilby (180-1999, college: KSU) responded with 20 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Club Beirut maintains fourth place with 8-5 record, which they share with Sporting B. Hoops at the other side still closes the standings with 14 games lost.
The game in supposed to be also quite interesting. Third ranked Azour (11-2) played at the court of 7th ranked NSA (5-8). Azour smashed NSA 108-55 on Monday. Kai James nailed a double-double by scoring 29 points and 18 rebounds for the winning side. Olesia Malashenko came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists for NSA in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Azour maintains third place with 11-2 record having just two points less than leader Al Riyadi. Loser NSA keeps the seventh position with eight games lost.

In the last two games of round 13 Antranik was smashed by Homentmen on the road 80-34. Sporting B. won against Almtayleb on its own court 93-81.

The game in supposed to be also quite interesting. Third ranked Azour (11-2) played at the court of 7th ranked NSA (5-8). Azour smashed NSA 108-55 on Monday. Azour dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to NSA's 28. Azour forced 34 NSA turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by NSA's players. American center Kai James (196-1995, college: FSU) nailed a double-double by scoring 29 points and 18 rebounds for the winning side and the former international point guard Amar Mansour (178-2004) accounted for 19 points, 12 assists and 5 steals (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Five Azour players scored in double figures. Ukrainian Olesia Malashenko (191-1991) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and Serena Hachem added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively for NSA in the defeat. No shocking result in a game when second ranked Homentmen (12-2) crushed 9th ranked Antranik (2-12) in Antelias 80-34 on Tuesday. Homentmen dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Antranik's 20. Homentmen forced 25 Antranik turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Antranik's players. American guard Jacaira Allen (180-1998, college: ODU) nailed 21 points for the winning side and her fellow American import forward Jillian Archer (188-2000, college: St.John's) accounted for 15 points and 8 rebounds. Homentmen A.'s coach Georges Dagher felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American center Jazmin Harris (190, college: NC A&T) came up with 8 points and 9 rebounds and Magalie Chahoud added 4 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Antranik in the defeat. Homentmen have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain second place with 12-2 record behind leader Al Riyadi. Loser Antranik keeps the ninth position with 12 games lost.

Rather expected game when 8th ranked Almtayleb (2-11) lost on the road to fifth ranked Sporting B. (8-5) 93-81 on Tuesday. Sporting B. shot 21 for 30 from the free-throw line, while Almtayleb only scored five points from the stripe. Sporting B. forced 21 Almtayleb turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Senegalese center Madjiguene Sene (197-1994) nailed a double-double by scoring 30 points and 16 rebounds for the winning side and point guard Sandra Beddawi (168-1992) accounted for 18 points, 12 assists and 4 steals. Four Sporting B. players scored in double figures.
