WLBL Round 5 (Regular Season): Homentmen lose to Al Riyadi in the game between Top 4 teams

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The game between Top Four teams took place in Beirut. Second ranked host Al Riyadi (6-1) smashed 3rd placed Homentmen (5-2) 99-60. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Homentmen A.. Al Riyadi dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Homentmen A.'s 30. Al Riyadi shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The former international point guard Rebecca Akl (170-1992) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 7 rebounds and 14 assists for the winners and American forward DaNasia Hood (185-2000, college: Texas St., agency: LBM Management) chipped in 19 points and 10 rebounds. The former international swingman Daniella Fayad (180-1997) responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds. Al Riyadi have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion maintains second place with 6-1 record behind leader Azour. Homentmen at the other side keeps the third position with two games lost. They share it with Club Beirut.
WLBL top team - Azour (7-0) added another victory to their record. This time they beat ninth ranked Hoops (1-6) in Beirut 54-48. The former international point guard Amar Mansour (178-2004) nailed 13 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side and Italee Lucas accounted for 9 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Serbian center Milena Marjanovic (193-1991) came up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds for Hoops in the defeat. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Azour. Newly promoted Azour maintains first place with 7-0 record. Hoops at the other side keep the ninth position with six games lost.
Bottom-ranked Antranik (0-7) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their seventh consecutive match to sixth ranked Sporting B. (4-3) 88-51 on Friday evening. The best player for the winners was Madjiguene Sene who had a double-double by scoring 31 points and 12 rebounds (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field). Kai Carter produced 21 points for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Sporting B.. They moved-up to fifth place. Antranik lost their seventh game in a row. They still close the standings with seven games lost.

In the last two games of round 5 Club Beirut won against Champs on the opponent's court 67-51. Almtayleb unfortunately lost to Sporting B. in a home game 61-74.

Champs - Club Beirut 51-67

There was a minor upset when their close opponent Champs (3-4) were defeated at home by fifth ranked Club Beirut (5-2) 67-51 on Wednesday. Club Beirut forced 19 Champs turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Shaqwedia Wallace (175-1989, college: Temple, agency: LBM Management) who scored 25 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Zeina Elias chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds. American Tina Stephens (188-1999, college: Troy) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and Canadian guard Janika Griffith-Wallace (173-1998, college: VCU) added 15 points respectively for the hosts. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Club Beirut. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Homentmen. Champs lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the sixth position with four games lost.

The former international point guard Amar Mansour (178-2004) nailed 13 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side and American-Angolan guard Italee Lucas (172-1989, college: UNC) accounted for 9 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Serbian center Milena Marjanovic (193-1991) came up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds and American guard Davion Wingate (168-1997, college: FGCU) added 4 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for Hoops in the defeat. The best player for the winners was Senegalese center Madjiguene Sene (197-1994) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 21 rebounds. Point guard Sandra Beddawi (168-1992) chipped in 28 points and 5 rebounds. Mathilda Khalil produced 22 points and 4 assists and American forward Daja Woodard (190, college: Jackson St.) added 15 points and 12 rebounds respectively for the hosts.
