Bethel's double-double lands her Player of the Week award

Akilah Bethel

31-year old American forward Akilah Bethel (183-F-1993) had an amazing evening in the last round for Sporting Club Beirut and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
She had a double-double of 24 points and 11 rebounds, while her team outclassed, the league's bottom-ranked team Antranik (#11, 0-3) with 39-point margin 77-38. Thanks to this victory Club Beirut moved-up to the 5th position in Lebanese WLBL. Club Beirut is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 1-1 record. Bethel just recently signed at Club Beirut and just after two games she already turned to be a very valuable addition to the team. Louisiana State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Bethel is in league's top in points (6th best: 17.5ppg), rebounds (8th best: 9.0rpg) and averages solid 3.5spg and 50.0% from behind 3-point line.

Second best performed player last round was Jacaira Allen (180-G-1998) of top-ranked Homentmen Antelias. She is American guard in her first season at Homentmen A.. In the last game Allen recorded an impressive double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds. Of course she led Homentmen to another comfortable win outscoring Hoops (0-3) 103-46. A very good start of the season for her team, which won so far all 3 games without any defeat. Allen is one of the most experienced players at Homentmen and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 18.3ppg (#4). Her other stats are also decent: 11.0rpg and 5.3apg.

Third place about best performers goes to swingman Jemimah Ashby (175-G/F-1991) of Almtayleb (#10). Ashby scored 27 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Despite Ashby's great performance the Almtayleb lost 61-77 to Azour (#3, 2-0). But her team cannot count on just a single shooter as she also needs help of the other teammates. Almtayleb can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 2 games. Ashby has individually a great season in Lebanon. After only 2 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.5ppg (best scorer).

9. Julan McDonald (183-F) of Antranik - 20 points and 15 rebounds
10. Tina Stephens (188-PF-1999) of Champs - 15 points, 16 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
