The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Beirut: Al Riyadi (#2) and Hoops (#6). Al Riyadi (11-1) crushed visiting Hoops (5-8) by 53 points 90-37. Al Riyadi dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Hoops' 20 and made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Al Riyadi forced 25 Hoops turnovers and outrebounded them 47-22 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Al Riyadi looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The former international point guard Rebecca Akl (170-1992) orchestrated the victory with a triple-double by scoring 19 points, 16 rebounds, 12 assists and 4 steals. Reem El Ghali contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Maryam Jomaa answered with 13 points and 6 rebounds for Hoops. Hoops' coach Ziad Al Natour gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Al Riyadi have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 11-1 record having just three points less than leader Club Beirut. Hoops lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with eight games lost. Al Riyadi are looking forward to face NSA (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hoops will play against Taadod and are hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
WLBL top team - Club Beirut (13-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eighth ranked Chiyah (3-10) 82-37. It was a great evening for the former international forward Aida Bakhos (178-1986, college: Lamar) who led her team to a victory with a triple-double by scoring 13 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. Leila Abi Ghosn helped adding 10 points and 14 rebounds. Tala Kambriss responded with 12 points. Undefeated Club Beirut have an impressive series of thirteen victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 13-0 record. Newly promoted Chiyah keeps the eighth position with ten games lost. Club Beirut will play against Almtayleb (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Chiyah will play against Antranik in Beirut and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game in supposed to be also quite interesting. Third ranked Homentmen (10-2) played at the court of 7th ranked Almtayleb (4-8). Homentmen smashed Almtayleb 91-53 on Tuesday. It was an exceptional evening for Patil Assadourian who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 8 steals (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Mathilda Khalil came up with 25 points for Almtayleb in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Homentmen maintains third place with 10-2 record having four points less than leader Club Beirut. Almtayleb at the other side keeps the seventh position with eight games lost. Homentmen will meet at home Champs (#4) in the next round. Almtayleb will play against the league's leader Club Beirut and hope to secure a win.
In the last two games of round 11 Antranik beat Taadod on the road 35-29. Champs won against NSA on its own court 50-38.
Chiyah - Club Beirut 37-82WLBL top team -
