WLBL Round 8 (Regular Season): Homentmen defeat Hoops in the game between Top 4 teams

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

An interesting game for Homentmen (8-1) which played road game in Beirut against 4th ranked Hoops (5-5). Third ranked Homentmen had an easy win 64-48. Homentmen forced 23 Hoops turnovers. Perla Nasr orchestrated the victory by scoring 28 points and 5 rebounds. Patil Assadourian (174-2004) contributed with 17 points and 4 steals for the winners. Maryam Jomaa replied with 23 points and 5 rebounds for Hoops. Homentmen have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Al Riyadi. Hoops at the other side dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with Antranik. Homentmen is looking forward to face NSA (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hoops will play against Almtayleb (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Worth to mention a great performance of Jana Ghossain who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 11 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists and Zeina El Hajj who added 8 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Sandra Sleiman responded with 5 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. NSA (1-8) left bottom position moving up to ninth place. It was Taadod's seventh loss in a row. Taadod at the other side, also newcomer in the league, stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. NSA will play against higher ranked Homentmen (#3) in Antelias in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Taadod will play at home against the league's leader Club Beirut (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
The game in was also quite interesting. Sixth ranked Champs (5-4) played at the court of 8th ranked Chiyah (2-8). Champs managed to secure a 5-point victory 46-41 on Wednesday. The winners were led by Nancy Maalouf who had that evening a double-double by scoring 21 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Even a double-double of 11 points and 16 rebounds by Sabine Fakherddine did not help to save the game for Chiyah. Champs moved-up to fourth place. Chiyah at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. Champs will meet at home Antranik (#5) in the next round. Chiyah will play against the league's second-placed Al Riyadi in Beirut and hope to secure a win.

In the last two games of round 8 Almtayleb was beaten by Antranik on the road 74-60. Bottom-ranked Taadod was destroyed by Al Riyadi on its own court 26-70.
The most impressive performance of 8th round was 25 points and 5 rebounds by Reem El Ghali of Al Riyadi.

NSA - Taadod 39-31

NSA's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after eight consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Taadod (1-9) 39-31. NSA held Taadod to an opponent 17.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 17.9 percent accuracy of the winners. NSA forced 21 Taadod turnovers and outrebounded them 52-31 including a 36-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Jana Ghossain who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 11 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists and Zeina El Hajj who added 8 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Antranik B. - Almtayleb 74-60

The game between closely ranked teams ended with sixth ranked Antranik's (5-5) home victory over 7th ranked Almtayleb (3-6) in Beirut 74-60 on Tuesday. Antranik outrebounded Almtayleb 54-31 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by Stephany Haddad who had that evening a double-double by scoring 14 points, 18 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks and Tracy Atallah supported her with 30 points and 5 rebounds. Four Antranik B. players scored in double figures. Even 24 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals by Yasmina Samra did not help to save the game for Almtayleb. Mathilda Khalil added 26 points and 4 steals for the guests. Almtayleb's coach Nelly Nassar rotated eleven players and allowed the starting five to rest. Antranik moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Hoops. Loser Almtayleb keeps the seventh position with six games lost. Antranik will meet higher ranked Champs (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Almtayleb will play against Hoops and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Even a double-double of 11 points and 16 rebounds by Sabine Fakherddine did not help to save the game for Chiyah. Pia Khattar added 12 points and 6 rebounds for the hosts. Champs moved-up to fourth place. Chiyah at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. Champs will meet at home Antranik (#5) in the next round. Taadod - Al Riyadi 26-70

Very expected game when 10th ranked Taadod (1-9) was smashed at home by third ranked Al Riyadi (8-1) 70-26 on Wednesday. Al Riyadi held Taadod to an opponent 22.5 percent shooting from the field compared to 40.6 percent accuracy of the winners. Al Riyadi forced 26 Taadod turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Taadod's players. The winners were led by Reem El Ghali who scored that evening 25 points and 5 rebounds and Mexican guard Carmen Saad (165-1991) supported her with 12 points, 7 assists and 7 steals. Four Al Riyadi players scored in double figures. Even 6 points and 5 rebounds by Maria Nasr did not help to save the game for Taadod. Riwa Houssari added 8 points for the hosts. Taadod's coach Nabil Hassoun gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Al Riyadi moved-up to second place, which they share with Homentmen. Taadod lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Al Riyadi will meet at home Chiyah (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Taadod will play against the league's leader Club Beirut and hope to win that game.
