DARIAN TOWNES

34-year old power forward Darian Townes (208-F/C-84) had a great game in the last round for Atlas F. and receives a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 14.
He had a double-double of 33 points and 10 rebounds, while his team crushed Sagesse (#9, 1-10) with 25-point margin 103-78. Atlas F. is placed at 6th position in Lebanese league. Atlas F. is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 4-8 record. In the team's last game Townes had a remarkable 76.5% from 2-point range. He turned to be Atlas F.'s top player in his first season with the team. The University of Arkansas graduate has very impressive stats this year. Townes is in league's top in points (7th best: 21.0ppg) and averages solid 2.5bpg and 58.0% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Aaron Nelson (205-F-91) of Byblos. He is American forward in his first season at Byblos. In the last game Nelson recorded impressive 29 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists. Bad luck as Byblos lost that game 76-83 to the higher-ranked Beirut Club (#4, 8-4). This loss caused Byblos to drop to 7th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 4-9 record. Nelson is a newcomer at Byblos and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 23.6ppg (#3). He also registered 9.7 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to Aziz Abdel Massih (96) of Sagesse (#9). Abdel Massih scored 25 points. Despite Abdel Massih's great performance Sagesse lost 78-103 to the higher-ranked Atlas F. (#6, 4-8). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Sagesse can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 1-10 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Too bad for Abdel Massih he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Abdel Massih has a very solid season. In 11 games in Lebanon he scored 12.5ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Orlando Sanchez (206-SF-88) of Atlas F. - 15 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists
5. Ghassan Nehme (190-G) of Atlas F. - 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists
6. Quincy Douby (190-G-84) of Beirut Club - 22 points and 8 assists
7. Joseph Zaloum (180-PG-90) of Atlas F. - 11 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists
8. Michael Efevberha (193-G-84) of Homentmen - 18 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Patrick Bou Abboud (199-F-87) of Homentmen - 13 points and 8 rebounds
10. Chris Crawford (193-G-92) of Beirut Club - 13 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

LBL Round 18: Homentmen is defeated by Beirut Club in a derby game - 3 days ago
Coincidentally all hosts won their games. Here is the last round review presented by ESL. The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Beirut: Beirut Club (#4) and Homentmen (#3). Beirut Club (11-4) won against visiting Homentmen (11-4) 86-81.
