Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most exciting game of round 6 in the LBL took place in Byblos. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Atlas F. (2-4) to seventh ranked Byblos (2-4) 81-79 in the game for the sixth place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Atlas F.. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Byblos made 7 blocks. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Aaron Nelson (205-91, college: S.Indiana) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points, 16 rebounds and 5 blocks. Forward Malcolm Riley (196-93, college: Texas Southern) chipped in 22 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Ali Farhat (183, college: Mich.-Dearborn) who recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Byblos moved-up to sixth place, which they share with defeated Atlas F.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Beirut: Homentmen (#2) and Sagesse (#8). Sagesse was defeated at home 66-74 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It was a good game for U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican point guard Walter Hodge (183-86, college: Florida) who led his team to a victory with 21 points and 7 assists. Karim Zeinoun contributed with 7 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Canadian power forward Keanau Post (211-92, college: Missouri) replied with 19 points and 6 rebounds for Sagesse. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Homentmen have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion (5-1) keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Al Riyadi. Sagesse lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom place with five games lost. They share the position with Hoops.

Al Riyadi have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 5-1 record, which they share with Homentmen. Al Moutahed at the other side keeps the fifth place with three games lost.



Sagesse - Homentmen 66-74

Leader Al Riyadi delivered the fifth victory on Friday night. This time they beat 5th ranked Al Moutahed (3-3) 74-64 in Beirut. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Al Moutahed. Naturalized Egyptian power forward Ahmad Ismail (205-76) scored 20 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international swingman Jean Abdel-Nour (198-83) chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American point guard Marvelle Harris (196-93, college: Fresno St., agency: Slash Sports) with 19 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals and guard Jimmy Salem (190-95) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Four Al Moutahed players scored in double figures. Al Riyadi have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 5-1 record, which they share with Homentmen. Al Moutahed at the other side keeps the fifth place with three games lost.

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Beirut: Beirut Club (#4) and Homentmen (#3). Beirut Club (11-4) won against visiting Homentmen (11-4) 86-81. He had a double-double of 27 points and 19 rebounds, while his team beat Moutahed (#8, 4-10) 84-76. Byblos is placed at 5th position in Lebanese league.
