The Regular Season in LBL just started. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

Al Riyadi smashed Byblos in Beirut 94-74. They outrebounded Byblos 46-30 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Al Riyadi looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Al Riyadi made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Amir Saoud (186-91) who helped to win the game recording 22 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. The former international forward Bassel Bawji (203-89, college: Tulsa) contributed with 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Al Riyadi's coach Ahmad Farran used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Malcolm Riley (196-93, college: Texas Southern) answered with 34 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds for Byblos. Byblos will play next round against Homenetmen trying to get back on the winning streak. Al Riyadi will try to continue on its current victory against Hoops Club. It will be extra interesting game as Hoops Club is their local rival from Beirut.

An interesting game was also home loss of Al Moutahed in a game in Tripoli versus undefeated Champville 68-55. Fadi El-Khatib nailed a triple-double by scoring 12 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists for the winning side. Hassan Dandach came up with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for Al Moutahed in the defeat. Champville will meet at home Sagesse (#4) in the next round. Al Moutahed will play against Beirut Club (#6) and hope to win that game.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Beirut: Sagesse and Hoops Club (#0). Sagesse (1-0) crushed visiting Hoops Club (0-1) by 16 points 101-85. Haakim Johnson fired 23 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Sagesse's coach Ghassan Sarkis used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Sagesse's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Beirut Beirut Club.



Atlas F. - Beirut Club 97-78
