Antranik Beirut may be the WLBL biggest sleeper in 2018

Most people forget the powerful history of Antranik Beirut. But how could you; maybe its the ten consecutive WLBL championships. But the last four seasons the league has been dominated by the power of Sporting Al Riyadi Beirut and Homentmen Beirut. Will the waves change this season?

Antranik Beirut has done a fantastic job of building a franchise from top to bottom. They have one of the more powerful management teams in league history. Tony Jountouyan who serviced as Lebanese National team manager for the last 17 years. The impressive mind of head coach Vinko Bakic who this summer was named top man for the FIBA Asia Cup for the junior national team. Nareg Avedikian developing the next generation with U20. When you do the math this season may just be the come back year for the leagues most historical team.

This season Antranik Beirut has sign two imports. Star guard Faith Randolph (178-G, college: Virginia) whos averaging a team best 24.4 points per game (ranked 3rd in the WLBL). Latvian center Anita Teilane (195-C-85, agency: LBM Management) has been the most impressive with her ability to play both ends of the court. She is currently leading the league in blocks with 6.3. Most would marvel at her shot blocking ability but she is also adding 18 points and 14 rebounds.

Although imports are very important; Antranik Beirut has done an incredible job signing some of the top locals in Lebanon. Team captain Nancy Maalouf (174-G/F-88) is also a national team member. Sabine Fakhoury (169-PG-85) has returned from retirement to join Karen Chammas (169-PG-93) who serves as the teams top defensive player. With these players Antranik Beirut will shock alot of teams in the final four.
