Ater Majok
Sagesse - Al Hekmeh Beirut (Pepsi LBL) agreed terms with 30-year old Lebanese international center Ater Majok (208-106kg-87, college: Connecticut). He is a dual citizen owning also South Sudanese passport. Majok played last summer at Luoyang in Chinese NBL league. In 31 games he had very impressive stats: 20.7ppg, 16.0rpg (#2 in the league), 3.0apg, 1.1spg and 4.0bpg. A very spectacular season in his career as he was named to All-Chinese NBL Honorable Mention. The last season he played at Homenetmen where in 37 Pepsi LBL games he recorded 12.1ppg, 11.4rpg (#4 in the league), 1.1spg and 2.4bpg. Majok helped them to win the regular season and make it to the final. Quite impressive season as he was named to All-Lebanese League Honorable Mention.
In 2011 (a year after he left the college) Majok was drafted by Los Angeles Lakers (NBA) in second round (58th overall). The former University of Connecticut standoutis in his eighth season in pro basketball.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others he won German 2.Bundesliga Pro A championship title in 2014.
Majok also represented Lebanon at the West Asia Basketball Championships in Amman (Jordan) this year. His team won Gold and his stats at that event were 5 games: 5.4ppg, Reb-2 (8.6rpg), 1.0spg, FGP: 42.9%, FT: 64.3%.
Majok is quite experienced player. His career allowed him to visit three different continents, while he played in eleven different countries. Majok tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Asia and of course North America. He has played previously professionally also in Belarus, Israel (Maccabi Fox Tel-Aviv), Korea, Poland (Trefl), Slovakia (Nitra), Taiwan (Taiwan Beer), Turkey, NBA (LA Lakers), Germany (BG Goettingen) and NBA G League (South Bay Lakers).
On Majok: (by Rodney Halprin for in 2011)
He is comfortable using both hands and shows good timing when going after shots ... He alters numerous plays and has the capacity to be a formidable post and help defender ... Desite his slight frame, he isn't afraid of physical play, hustles hard and will get after loose balls. He is active on the offensive boards and finds his man on the defensive end, however due to mainly his lack of strength in the past, he has not been a dominant rebounder up to this point ... He has also had some difficulties with foul trouble playing the 4/5 spot
